I like the guide, but it would be nice if we had instructions on going uphill and downhill. I am only concerned about slight sloping on our local trail. I am not the
type to go out and hike. At 70 years old I do not hike.
Hi Patricia. I'm happy that you found the book helpful. Regarding going up and down slopes, there is no change in the technique (for Nordic walking poles or Activator poles) other than to walk a little more cautiously and slower.
For Nordic walking: If the slope turns into a hill, slow your pace when going up. You may have to bend your elbows; resume your long-arm swings once you get to the top. On a hill going down, slow your pace; if you get going too fast for comfort place your poles out the front and use them as a walking braking mechanism. Hope this helps!
